Frequently asked questions
Curious about how GOJO works? Here’s everything you need to know — from what GOJO is, to why we built it.
What is GOJO?
GOJO lets you compete on anything — completely free. Every competition is called a GOJO, and you can host one around whatever you want: a late-night pool game, who skips a rock the farthest, or even who will get the higher mark. Join GOJOs, stake XP, and climb your way up by winning. The best part? You get to show off what you’re competing on — post your wins, your losses, and everything in between. GOJO turns real life into a game, making everyday moments competitive and social, without any of the risk.
How does XP work?
Every user starts with 100 XP to get in the action. XP is the fuel of GOJO — you use it to stake on GOJOs, compete, and climb. Every time you play, you’re not just going for bragging rights — you’re moving up in the GO-World, GOJO’s progression system. As you rank through different realms, you unlock real-life rewards like discounts, giveaway entries, and access to exclusive memberships or events. If you run out of XP, there are plenty of ways to get back in the game — through daily streaks, referrals, short ads, timed resets, or even a paid subscription.
What is a GOJO Host?
A GOJO Host is the person who creates a GOJO and decides its outcome. For example, if five friends run a race, the host sets up the GOJO and then selects the winning runner, to payout their XP. Hosts can make private invite-only GOJOs, ones just for their friends, or public ones open to everyone. Beyond that, the app itself also acts as a host, generating thousands of GOJOs each day based on popular real-world events — like whether GTA 6 will release before 2026 ends or will the Toronto Raptors win tonight.
Is GOJO free?
Yes — GOJO is free to download and play for everyone, starting February 1 on the Apple App Store. Every user begins with XP and earns more by competing on GOJOs — the better you play, the more XP you win. If you ever run out, there are plenty ways to recharge, like daily streaks, referrals, ads, or timed resets — allowing you to stay in the action for free.
Why did we build GOJO?
We built GOJO because the culture of gaming and staking is everywhere — from opening Pokémon packs as kids, to fantasy leagues, to the pull of real-money schemes. Society trains us early to chase the rush of “the big win,” but that path usually ends isolating and costly. GOJO flips that script. Instead of fueling addiction, we wanted to capture the same thrill — the dopamine of risk and reward — and pair it with something social, safe, and fun. On GOJO, that rush comes from low-risk competition and sharing those experiences with others. Competition becomes a communal outlet, not a lonely cycle. That’s why GOJO exists.
